What we Learn

“The 2012 CHAOS results show another increase in project success rates, with 39% of all projects succeeding (delivered on time, on budget, with required features and functions) as compared to 29% in 2004 and 37% in 2010. Yes, there is an uptick in last ten years.

However, 43% project were still challenged (late, over budget, and/or with less than the required features and functions); and 18% failed (cancelled prior to completion or delivered and never used).

Looking from the size and complexity of the project perspective, 76% of the small projects succeed whereas only 10% of the large projects succeed. A whopping 52% of the large projects are challenged.”
